Skrill (Moneybookers), one of Europe’s largest online payment providers, has been awarded the ‘best use of ecommerce’ award at the FStech Awards 2012, cementing its position at the forefront of the industry.
The FStech Awards recognise excellence and innovation in the field of information technology across the EMEA financial services sector. Skrill’s victory in the ‘best use of e-commerce’ category is recognition of a new, emerging technology that improves business processes between financial services providers and business partners.
Skrill’s winning entry demonstrated to the judges how the strategic use of technology has improved communications between the business partners involved, delivered cost benefits, improved internal processes, enhanced customer service and helped develop opportunities for future business success.
Martin Ott, Co-CEO of Skrill, said: “The world of financial technology is moving very quickly, so we are proud to be recognised as a leader in this dynamic industry. We have many new exciting developments in the pipeline that will continue to help improve the experience for our customers and merchants alike.”
This win comes after a year of success and innovation for Skrill, having launched its new HTML 5 cross-platform gateway, Skrill 1-Tap, in January and announced a growth of over 50% in registered users in 2011. The last year also saw transactions volumes overtake €10bn as online businesses continue to turn to Skrill to access a comprehensive network of payment solutions, enabling them to transact in a complex and fragmented payments landscape.
