Economist Intelligence Unit acquires Clearstate

The EIU Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) announces today the acquisition of Clearstate, a leading provider of market intelligence on the Asia Pacific healthcare industry with extensive coverage of 14 markets across the region. Clearstate will retain its current business brand, operating within the EIU’s portfolio of companies.

“This acquisition transforms the EIU’s reach and offering in a key sector within major emerging markets,” says Chris Stibbs, CFO of The Economist Group and Managing Director of The Economist Intelligence Unit. “Our healthcare network has now become global, and this is just the first in a series of acquisitions to strategically build this business.”

Clearstate provides data and insight to healthcare and life sciences companies, helping them to better understand the current and potential markets for their products and services.

Clearstate’s clients are primarily manufacturers and include GE Healthcare, Philips Healthcare and Hitachi Medical.
• Clearstate offers market intelligence complimented by strategic advisory services to healthcare companies looking to tap into growth opportunities within Asia Pacific.

• Clearstate offers one of Asia's most thorough and comprehensive source of fact-based in-market data to help medtech clients track their market performances in Asia Pacific.

“This acquisition will enable us to create healthcare forecasting models for the first time in Asia,” continues Chris Stibbs. “We will now take on deeper, more detailed research projects and with Clearstate’s leading experts will ultimately develop a much more competitive offering with an emerging markets focus.”
