Snow blowers and ice treatment package the answer to staying open

Businesses and local authorities are increasing their efforts to stay open through the predicted snow and ice this year.

Mowdirect, Europe’s biggest on-line garden machinery store has already sold hundreds of snow blower in preparation for the winter from the north of Scotland to the south coast of England.

These are relatively new to this country but widely used on the continent.

Small domestic snow blowers cost from £179 right up to £19,900 for a machine designed to clear really large areas.

The company’s founder and principal Rob Fagg said “It seems companies and local authorities will be making bigger efforts to stay open this winter as many were criticized last year for closing when other countries managed to keep going through far worse conditions.

“Every morning new orders are arriving for snow blowers and we are selling machines right across the whole price range.”

Now the company has put together a simple snow and ice treatment package to keep forecourts, parking areas and paths snow and ice free.

The package consists of a walk-behind spreader, 10 bags of snow and ice melt and a special snow shovel from Canada.

The salt spreader, with a large hopper, spreads salt and other products, is fast and easy to use and can clear large areas quickly and easily.

The LMT ice melt comes in 10 kg bags and is used by airports worldwide. It will not kill grass or plants and gives ten times the coverage of rock salt – a 10 kg bag will treat up to 2000 square metres.

The snow shovel is made by Garant in Canada and can be used as a pusher as well and has a really large capacity.

The whole lots costs £299, a saving of £65 on the individual prices of the items.

“We have already sold several of these packages. Every day a different organisation predicts a mild winter or a severe one but it seems that many British businesses are determined not to be caught out this year.”

Mowdirect was founded eleven years ago, is based in Norfolk, and has steadily expanded sell all types on garden equipment in the period.
